Terms of use.
The plain-English version of how future.ly works and what you agree to when you use it.
Who we are
future.ly is run by Futurely CIC (UK Community Interest Company no. 17120743), Bristol, UK. By using the site you agree to these terms.
Exchanges, not donations
When you back a campaign you usually receive something in return — a print, a piece of merch, or another reward — so it’s an exchange (a purchase), not a charitable donation. Some options are simple support of a campaign. Each option says clearly what you get and whether it ships.
Payments & fees
Payments are processed securely by Stripe. We show the full breakdown at checkout, including our fees:
- A flat £2 platform fee per exchange (keeps the lights on).
- A flat £1 to the Creator Fund.
- Payment processing (Stripe’s standard ~2.9% + 30p).
The rest goes to the campaign. Prices may display in your local currency; Stripe handles the conversion at payment.
Refunds & cancellations
- If a physical item isn’t fulfilled within the stated timeframe, you get a full refund.
- If a campaign is paused or cancelled, we’ll contact you to either refund your contribution or, if you prefer, reallocate it to another campaign.
- Refunds go back to your original payment method via Stripe.
- Content that has already been unlocked stays unlocked — refunds don’t re-lock it.
Campaigns & transparency
As a CIC, our funds are subject to an asset lock — they stay tied to our social mission, and transfers to external bodies require Community Interest Company regulator consent. We publish where the money goes on each campaign’s economics page. Funding totals and timelines can change as a campaign progresses.
Your account & conduct
- Give accurate information and keep your login secure.
- Messages you post backing a campaign are shown publicly; keep them respectful. We may remove anything abusive, unlawful, or spam, and you can report messages that concern you.
- Don’t misuse the site, attempt to break it, or infringe others’ rights.
Content & intellectual property
The films, photography, designs, and branding on future.ly belong to Futurely CIC or our collaborators — please don’t reuse them without permission. By posting a message you grant us a licence to display it on the platform and in related promotion.
Liability & governing law
We work hard to keep the site running but provide it “as is” to the extent the law allows. Nothing here limits liability that can’t legally be limited (for example, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud). These terms are governed by the laws of England & Wales, and the courts of England & Wales have jurisdiction.
