Plain-language summary of what we collect, why, and your choices. We keep data to a minimum and never sell it.

Who we are

future.ly is operated by Futurely CIC(UK Community Interest Company no. 17120743), Bristol, UK — the “data controller” for the information described here. Questions or requests: [email protected].

What we collect

Email address
For your account, receipts, and the updates you asked for. Basis: contract / consent. Kept until you delete your account, or up to 6 years after your last transaction for tax records.
Name
For order fulfilment and, if you choose, your message on a campaign. Basis: contract. Kept until account deletion.
Shipping address
Only when you order a physical item, to deliver it. Basis: contract. Deleted after fulfilment completes (plus a short window for returns).
Payment details
Handled entirely by Stripe — we never see or store your card number. We keep only a Stripe reference ID against your order.
Approximate location (IP)
Used only to show prices in your local currency, read from your network request. Basis: legitimate interest. Not stored.
Referral / UTM tags
Which link brought you here, so we understand what works. Basis: legitimate interest. Stored with an order, anonymised after 12 months.
Messages you post
If you leave a message backing a campaign, we store it to display it. Basis: consent. Removable on request.

We do not collect personal data from the children featured in our films — see our safeguarding policy.

Who processes it

We use a small set of trusted providers. They process data on our behalf under data-processing agreements:

  • Clerk — accounts and sign-in.
  • Stripe — card payments (PCI Level 1; card data never touches our servers).
  • Resend — transactional and update emails.
  • Cloudinary — image and media hosting.
  • Wise — receiving and holding campaign funds.
  • Google Analytics 4 and Meta (Pixel & Conversions API) — measurement and marketing. These run only if you allow them (see Cookies below).
  • DigitalOcean — hosting and our database.

Cookies & consent

Always on (strictly necessary / functional)

  • Your sign-in session (Clerk).
  • Your currency preference.
  • A referral (UTM) cookie, so a signup is credited to the right link (expires after 30 days).

Only with your consent

Analytics (Google Analytics 4) and marketing (Meta Pixel) cookies load only after you accept them. When you first visit, our cookie banner lets you accept, reject, or choose. You can change your choice at any time using that banner, or by emailing [email protected]. Reject and we won’t set any analytics or marketing cookies.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, export it, or stop certain processing. Manage your account and profile any time from your account, or email [email protected] and we’ll action it. You can unsubscribe from emails via the link in any message. You also have the right to complain to the UK ICO.

Changes

We’ll update this page as the platform grows and post the date of the latest change at the top. Questions about anything here? Email [email protected].
